I have owned large working breeds for almost ten years with my first love being the Rottweiler.

It was whilst looking for a Rottweiler puppy that I came across the Dogue de Bordeaux. The breeder had a litter of puppies and as soon as I saw the mum, who subsequently sat herself between my husband and I, then immediately I was hooked.

I came away and went straight to the pet shop to find myself a book on the breed, albeit very difficult years ago, as they were not as popular as they are today.

And that is how it all started for me.

I was lucky enough to get pick of the litter and when Rosie turned into not only a beautiful example of the breed but had the most fantastic temperament then I decided I wanted another one and what better way than to breed one myself.

I bred my first litter and kept a girl and the rest they say is history!

One thing I will guarantee is once you are owned by one you will be hooked and more will usually follow.

Although I don't show my dogs, all my dogs are well within breed standard and, more importantly, have excellent temperaments and are fit and healthy.

I have a great interest in canine psychology and am currently undertaking a dog psychology course to increase the bond I already have with my dogs.

The health, welfare and happiness of my dogs is paramount to me. I have a great love and passion for them and my life revolves around them.

They are all health-checked regularly, have their annual boosters, are wormed on a regular basis, are micro-chipped and are hipscored at the relevant age.

All my dogs are pets first and foremost and none are ever re-homed.

They are all walked individually - giving us that special one to one time – and they all love playing football with the children or even being groomed.

My aim is to improve the breed by breeding healthy true to type Dogue de Bordeaux's with each litter being an improvement on the last. Only the best stud dogs are chosen that will compliment my girls.
